WHAT'S NEW?
CURRENT INFORMATION
Since this project started in 2004, we have been busy answering questions from participants and requests for test kits.
We currently have over 3000 participants who have volunteered DNA from more than 100 different breeds, as well as mixed breed dogs and dogs of unknown breeding. But, the gathering of data must continue.
For this project it is important to have a sample that is both broad and deep. We would like to collect more breeds, a minimum of 50 dogs of each breed in the sample, ideally of known pedigree, and also dogs of mixed breed or unknown background.
CURRENT DOG COUNT
We are particularly interested in the following dogs:
- Purebred dogs for whom pedigrees are available
- Dogs who are affected with behavioral problems (such as, but not limited to, anxiety, aggression, noise phobia, etc.)
- Family members of affected dogs (littermates, siblings, half-sibs, parents, grandparents, and more distant relations), even if those family members are not themselves behaviorally affected
- Uncommon/rare breeds, or groups that descend from a small founding population
However, because we require a comparative sample, and are assessing overall canine genetic diversity, we are also interested in:
- Dogs of unknown background or without pedigree
- Dogs who are not behaviorally affected
As always, be assured that all data submitted are entirely confidential. Your name, your dogs’ names, and dog or personal information will never be released to anyone at any time. Please complete kits and paperwork for all participating dogs, as well as copies of pedigrees if available, as soon as possible for inclusion in our database.
